Kanye West is coming back to Paris Fashion Week

Kanye West is not giving up, he is coming back to Paris Fashion Week this March to show his second collection. Despite some pretty terrible reviews of his debut line, the rapper and aspiring designer hasn’t given up on his fashion dreams.

France’s CFDA-equivalent, the Chambre Syndicale, has confirmed that Kanye will be showing as part of the offical PFW schedule on March 6.

There has been no official word on what we can expect the designer’s sophomore collection. But based on his recent tweet on 6th February 2012, there might be some crepe chiffon.

“Pardon me… do you have any crepe chiffon?” Kanye tweeted.

Paris Vogue’s New Website

Paris Vogue is finally putting some of its muscle behind its web presence, by relaunching a which went live 2 days ago. The most prominent feature of the new site is a blog-style stream located directly beneath the main banner and navigator. A whole thirty two new issues are posted 2 days ago, about as many as one might find in a typical issue of the magazine.

For the most part, it’s standard fashion mag fare, mostly remarkable for its high fashion bent. Paris Vogue obviously has the kind of exclusive access to key designers and fashion figures few other outlets could match.

Victoria’s Secret Baby Boom

The news came out that Alessandra Ambrosio is five months along with her second child, which means she was pregnant during the taping of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show! Alessandra was about 2 months pregnant when she walked the runway.

“When I first found out I was pregnant I thought, ‘Oh my gosh I don’t think I’m going to be able to walk on the show,’ and I didn’t tell anybody so no one knew at the show that I was pregnant, a week before, I told my booker I don’t think I’m going to be able to fit into the clothes because I gained a few pounds already, but we were just quiet. I cut all the sugars and sweets 10 days before and I got my trainer, the one I usually get, and we were doing lots of glutes and arms and back exercises.” Alessandra explained.

Alessandra Ambrosio was not the only pregnant Angel on the Victoria’s Secret runway 2011. Lily Aldrige was also expecting her first baby. she was already a few weeks pregnant when she walked the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in early November.

The Intergalatic Theme Continues

Alexander Mcqueen once again worked with photographer David Sims for their ad campaign and continued with a variation on the intergalactic theme they displayed in Fall 2011. Where the Fall campaign with Raquel Zimmermann was dark and moody, the new Spring 2012 campaign featuring Zuzanna Bijoch has a decidedly lighter tone.

No one seems to outright hate the campaign, but we’re definitely feeling the absence of the dearly departed Alexander McQueen himself. You can’t help but wonder where the brand would be at this moment if he were still with us.

David Beckham For H&M

H&M released its first commercial for David Beckham Bodywear yesterday. This first collection introduces nine underwear styles for men which will go on to form the products of the long-term unique partnership between David Beckham and H&M. The collection is designed by David’s in-house team. They are available in store as well as online from 2nd February 2012.

“‘My design team and I spent 18 months developing the collection, it’s been a fantastic collaborative experience, and I’m very happy with the end result.” Said David Beckham.

Starring the man himself, the 30-second black-and-white ad, set to the song Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood by The Animals, shows close-ups of the soccer star’s many tattoos and flawless body.

IMG’s Fall 2012 Show Package!

Someone at IMG (modeling agency’s catwalkers) has been working for nights putting together the Fall 2012 NYFW show package. The book contains 52 collages of the agency’s models cut out of editorial spreads and pasted into iconic paintings.

The collage format was a risky move, since the models could have easily been overshadowed by the source material of the paintings. But for the most part, i think the agency did a stellar job choosing strong editorial shots. I’d book these girls!

“today everything’s about technology, because the world has changed. In terms of communication, in terms of working, creating materials, manufacturing, everything has changed. Things couldn’t be better for Giambattista Valli. He has been granted official couture status by the French fashion body, Chambre Syndicale. Valli debuted his first couture collection last summer and though the process to become a sanctioned couturier typically takes five years, the Chambre expedited Valli’s application on the grounds of his awesomeness.

“It was clear from his show that he has caught the attention of a new generation of customers, and he immediately took important orders for his couture… it’s true that the haute couture appellation gives him legitimacy, but objectively speaking, he is already part of the system.” President Didier Grumbach explained.

Not only that, this designer also launched an acclaimed capsule collection for Macy’s. Valli’s shows are sure to be a favorite in the couture rotation in the coming years.

Airports are always running behind schedule and losing luggage to the clouds. Once you’re on the plane, you need to survive from sobbing children, dried-out skins, cramped seats, and beverage carts crowding the too-tight aisles, blocking access to the bathroom. Once you land, you’re subject to the crapshoot of tarmac traffic, baggage claims, taxi stand lines.

But Air Chanel is different! Chanel Couture Spring 2012 show in Paris still did its best to show us the untold possibilities of high fashion air travel. Karl Lagerfeld & co. spent five days building out an airplane set, complete with a monogrammed Chanel carpet and beverage service.

When it comes to the clothing, Chanel showed an all-blue collection, using over 150 different shades. Curious enough? Check out the video above!

Prada Pop-Up Museum

Prada is launching a 24 hour museum designed by Milan based artist, Francesco Vezzoli. The museum will pop up on Tuesday, January 24 for just one day! You will see the fashion’s world’s biggest name partying there. They will have films featuring Sharon Stone and Lady Gaga during an invitation-only dinner on January 24, before the space turns into an exclusive nightclub visible online at www.24hoursmuseum.com. The exhibition then opens to the public the following day, presumably after the clean-up has taken place.

The “24 h Museum” will be split into three sections, each inspired by a particular type of museum space, historic, contemporary and forgotten. The museum will be closed on January 25 at 8.30 pm when the 24-hour period comes to an end.

Christian Louboutin for the Crazy Horse Cabaret

In a celebration of two decades in business, legendary designer Christian Louboutin is collaborating with Parisian cabaret, Crazy Horse. The French shoe designer is working with burlesque dancer and choreographer Patricia Folly to create a series of performances which will run from May 5 through May 31, under the name Feu.

Assisted by the choreographer, Louboutin has brought on board a team of talented artists, including David Lynch and Swizz Beatz to compose the original music, Gilles Papain for the video design, and Youssef Nabil, who created the poster for the show.

“Because of what I do, for these numbers I concentrated on the lower half of the body more than the top,” Louboutin said. “The language of legs can express any and every feeling.”

This is gonna be the show of the year! What could be more exciting than seeing this legendary designer moves like jagger?

Louis Vuitton Sues Warner Bros!

The first fashion scandal of 2012 came from Louis Vuitton. The luxury fashion brand is suing Warner Bros, the film industry, for using a counterfeit Louis Vuitton handbag in a scene of The Hangover Part II, a comedy movie. Normally, this might be kind of reasonable. But in the movie, the property was used as part of a joke.

The scene takes part at the airport, the character, Alan carries a suitcase bearing the logo “LVM,” it is obvious that this item is fake as genuine Louis Vuitton bags are marked “LV”.

“Careful,” Alan tells his friend, “that is a Louis Vuitton.” mispronouncing the name as “Lewis.” That’s the joke, Alan can’t pronounce the designer’s name and he obviously bought a fake item.

Apparently, Louis Vuitton does not leave any room for a sense of humor, they are demanding that the film will be removed from sale and seeking part of the film’s $580+ million profits and triple damages.
